چکیده

Studies on harnessing solidified carbon dioxide (SCO2) for municipal sewage sludge (MSS) pre-treatment have been conducted exclusively in batch reactors. This makes it difficult to accurately assess how long-term SCO2 treatment affects anaerobic digestion (AD) conditions and performance. The aim of our study was evaluate the effect MSS with AD conditions, bacterial community, biogas composition yields. presented experiments are first studies efficiency continuous So far, impact organic load rate (OLR) methane fermentation has not assessed, which is also a novelty research. process continuous-stirred, continuous-flow an active volume 20 dm3. run at 38 ± 1 °C. experiment divided into two stages. Raw (non-pretreated) used stage 1, whereas 2 pre-treated SCO2. SCO2/MSS ratio 1:3. Each sub-divided four variants, different levels OLR ranging from 2.0 5.0 gCOD/dm3·day. Pre-treatment found improve performance 3.0–4.0 gVS/dm3·day. 3.0 gVS/dm3·day variant offered best production performance—both daily (29 1.3 dm3/day) per VS added (0.49 0.02 dm3/gVS)—as well as highest CH4 content (70.1 1.0%). In this variant, energy output 187.07 1.5 Wh/day obtained. change pH, FOS/TAC, or community composition. Instead, these variables were mainly affected by OLR. Our shows that 0.3 (by volume) significantly improves terms feedstock mineralization. no negative operation reactor.

Improvement of Anaerobic Digestion of Sewage Sludge, Using Combined Hydrogen Peroxide and Thermal Pre-Treatment

The present study investigates the influence of individual and combined hydrogen peroxide and thermal pre-treatment of waste activated sludge on anaerobic digestion. For so doing, it employs anaerobic batch reactors in the mesophilic conditions. For comparison, soluble fractions of organic matter, biogas production, biochemical methane potential, removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD), and vol...

Optimization of Anaerobic Digestion of Sewage Sludge Using Thermophilic Anaerobic Pre-Treatment

In this study, we investigated by running continuous stirred tank reactor the effects of different thermophilic temperatures (55, 60, 65, 70, 75 and 80C) for different hydraulic retention times (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 days, respectively) on the pretreatment of sewage sludge. We found that hydrolysis was mainly determined by temperature instead of hydraulic retention time, i.e. the high...

Anaerobic Treatment of Sewage Sludge and Grease Trap Sludge in Continuous Co-digestion

In recent years many researchers show a high interest in co-digestion, simultaneous anaerobic decomposition of a homogenous mixture of at least two biodegradable waste. Anaerobic codigestion is reported to offer several benefits over digestion of separate materials, such as increased cost-efficiency, increased biodegradation of the treated materials, as well as increased biogas production. Most...

Anaerobic co-digestion of coffee waste and sewage sludge.

The feasibility of the anaerobic co-digestion of coffee solid waste and sewage sludge was assessed. Five different solid wastes with different chemical properties were studied in mesophilic batch assays, providing basic data on the methane production, reduction of total and volatile solids and hydrolysis rate constant. Most of the wastes had a methane yield of 0.24-0.28 m3 CH4(STP)/kg VS(initia...
